The Legal Development Unit provides
counseling and legal assistance to the different units of CICAD,
giving legal advice on topics and procedures in the areas of Drugs and
related subjects. One of the most important tasks of this unit is the
ongoing Model Regulations reviewing.
This Unit is also in charge of
administrative and legal tasks, advising the CICAD with respect to its
interaction with the OAS. As such it is responsible of formulation and
drafting of Memoranda of Understanding and other agreements.
The Legal Development Unit is
carrying out actions with the purpose of preventing, combating and
eradicating the illicit traffic of Firearms, stimulating projects to
control this illicit activity and promoting international cooperation.
