Mexico


Mexico joined the DTC program for the Americas in May of 2013 and is currently reviewing the MOU with CICAD for implementation of DTCs. Also, ES-CICAD, through the DTCs for the Americas project, is executing a diagnostic study of Mexico’s first Addiction Treatment Court (as DTCs are referred to in Mexico) in Guadalupe, Nuevo Leon.

  • High level dialogue on Alternatives to Incarceration for Drug-related Crimes.Washington, D.C. Convened the Presidents of the Supreme Courts of: Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Colombia, España, Jamaica, Panamá, Trinidad  andTobago, and 5 Mexican States.
  • Regional workshop on Social Integration of Drug dependent offenders within the context of Programas de Tratamiento de Drogas bajo Supervisión Judicial. Antigua, Guatemala. 11 member states inter alia Argentina, Barbados, Canadá, Chile, Costa Rica, Estados Unidos, Jamaica, México, Panamá, Dominican Republic, and Trinidad and Tobago
  • Training Workshop on Programa de Justicia Terapéutica para Adolescentes in Mexico, DF., with the Miami Dade Juvenile Court Team.

  • Introduction of A Diagnostic Study of the Addiction Treatment Court in Guadalupe, Nuevo León, Mexico. Financed by Narcotics and Law Enforcement State Department.
  • DTC Training Workshop in Cuernavaca, Morelos. Más de 100 profesionales del ámbito de la justicia y la salud recibieron capacitación. Acudieron los Estados de Durango, Chihuahua, DF, Morelos y México
  • Signing of MOU with CONADIC for the implementation of Asistencia Técnica para la Expansión del Modelo de TTA en México (financed via Plan Mérida,United States).

2013

  • México and CICAD organized 1er Taller de Capacitación de Alto Nivel sobre el Modelo de Tribunales de Tratamiento de Adicciones in Toluca, Mexico, hosting more than 300 representatives.
  • SEGOB and CONADIC attended Taller Práctico de Alto Nivel e Intercambio Profesional para la Implementación de TTD, Washington, D.C. 21 representatives  from México (Morelos, DF, Durango, Nuevo León, Durango, Baja California, Estado de México) participated in this activity with different federal agencies.
  • Mexico formally joins Tribunales de Tratamiento de Drogas para las Américas during CICAD 53

2012

  • CICAD invited Mexico to participate in Taller Internacional Sobre Tribunales de Tratamiento de Drogas: “Consolidación del Modelo y Nuevos Desafíos”
  • CICAD invited CONADIC to publish Tribunales de Tratamiento de Drogas: Una Respuesta Internacional para Infractores Dependientes de  Drogas.
