National Commission
The Advisory Council on Drug Abuse was established in 1988. The national authority coordinated the areas of demand reduction, drug observatory, international cooperation and program evaluation. There is a central technical office, the National Unit for the Prevention of Drug Abuse (established in 1997), to carry out its mandates. This Unit is a division of the Ministry of Health. The Director of the Unit reports to the Permanent Secretariat of the Ministry.
