ABOUT SUPPLY REDUCTION |
Responsibilities and Objectives
The Supply Reduction and Control Section is responsible for assisting CICAD member states in strengthening their capacity to control drugs and related contraband. This includes illicit drugs such as the heroin, cocaine and marijuana that are plant-based as well as MDMA (Ecstasy), amphetamine-like stimulants, hallucinogens and other synthetic or chemical-based drugs as well as the chemicals used to produce both classes of drugs. There are also certain pharmaceutical drugs used for medical or scientific purposes that are subject to abuse that are diverted from legitimate medical channels. In addition to the foregoing, the Section works with member states to strengthen other aspects of drugs control including general drug enforcement and customs work, maritime cooperation, and port security.
