Project
Description: |
Community
policing is a philosophy in which the police and the community work in
partnership to resolve problems together. It is very different from the
traditional “command and control” approach that many law enforcement
agencies and forces have used. This approach
promotes an open dialogue that encourages and facilitates the
early identification of drug-related and other problems in a community
and timely development and implementation of corrective measures.
Some
CICAD member states have already implemented this philosophy either at
the national level or more selectively in individual towns, cities or
regions. CICAD is drawing
on the knowledge and experience of these member states to promote and
facilitate the broader introduction or expansion of this philosophy
among its member states.

|
Objectives: |
- to test
the concept of community policing through a limited pilot project
- to promote and facilitate the expanded implementation of community
policing among CICAD member states
