Pharmaceutical
products are controlled through international treaties, conventions and
other agreements. At the national level, countries adopt legislation,
regulations and administrative systems to control the productions,
distribution and use of these drugs.
CICAD provides training and
technical assistance to member states to strengthen their capacity to
effectively control pharmaceutical products that are subject to
diversion and abuse. This can include helping to develop the legislative
foundation and regulatory framework necessary to control chemicals as
well as the administrative and regulatory systems that must be in place
to implement these control provisions.
In addition, CICAD organizes
training seminars for administrative officers responsible for the
control of these pharmaceutical products. These seminars are delivered
at the national or sub-regional level. The focus of each seminar is
adjusted to respond to the needs of the participating countries.
