New Dates for Meeting of Drug Observatories


The Inter-American Observatory on Drugs has rescheduled the third Ibero-American conference of drug observatories to December 11-15, 2006. The event will be held at the training center of the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation (AECI) in Cartagena, Colombia. The U.S. National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) will only sponsor the activities.

On the first two days, December 11-12, the conference will launch the activities of the Latin American Epidemiology Work Group (REDLA). This research network is a joint venture among participating national observatories, the NIDA and the OID.

Graphic of bar chartDrug observatories from South and Central America will be sending representatives. Other participants will include the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction, the National Hispanic Science Network on Drug Abuse and the Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO).

The event had originally been planned for early October.
