VII MEETING OF THE DEMAND REDUCTION EXPERT GROUP

The Seventh Meeting of the Expert Group on Demand Reduction will be held in Ottawa, Canada on September 13-15, 2005 under the Chairmanship of Ms. Beth Pieterson, Director General of the Drug Strategy and Controlled Substances Programme, Health Canada.  The objective of this Seventh Meeting of the Expert Group be to develop a model framework for the evaluation of substance abuse prevention programs in OAS member states.  Member states are asked to designate a representative to the Expert Group who meets the following profile:

 

  1. Experience in the evaluation of prevention programs;

  2. Relevant high-level experience in administering substance abuse prevention programs within the national drug council, government agency, or non-governmental organization;

  3. Responsible for setting policy (government and/or NGO) for substance abuse prevention and for designing and evaluating prevention programs carried out within the context of the national drug strategy;

  4. Full and ready access to e-mail and internet, in order to review documents prior to the meeting and participate in working groups following the meeting; and

  5. Committed to participation in the Expert Group activities generated by this Seventh Meeting for a period of two (2) years.

 

The CICAD Executive Secretariat has requested that contact information Expert nominated by each member state be received by the CICAD Secretariat no later than August 1, 2005, and reminds member states that experts should make their lodging reservations at the Delta Hotel and Suites by August 10 to secure the group rate.
