| With the
purpose of exchanging experiences and facilitating the processes related
to the application of minimum standards of care and rehabilitation of
people with substance abuse and addictions problems, the Executive
Directorate of the National Anti-Drugs Commission of El Salvador (DE-CNA)
hosted a national workshop in coordination with CICAD and the United
Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
The event was inaugurated by the
Vice-Minister of Public Health, Dr. Jorge Ernesto Navarro Marín. Other
attendees at the inaugural session included: Mr. Rogelio Sotela,
Director of the OAS National Office in El Salvador; Ms. Rubi Blancas,
Coordinator of the UNODC Project (UNODC/AD/CAM/04/H90); and Mr. Rene
Dominguez Calderon, Executive Director of the National Anti-drugs
Commission of El Salvador.
Technical personnel and specialists
form the Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance, the Ministry
of Education, the Superior Council on Public Health, and from the
Anti-drugs Foundation of El Salvador attended the workshop, which was
facilitated Dr. Luis Alfonso, CICAD/OAS Consultant. During this workshop
the participants agreed on a work plan to apply the document "Standards
of Care for People with Addictive Conducts to Psychoactive Substances"
and complete the clinical guides of care and other related topics.
